Richard Crimi is a former law enforcement officer, author, speaker, and founder of Mind Prep Academy. His work is rooted in real-world experience, personal transformation, and a deep commitment to helping others strengthen the most important tool they have — their mind.
During his years in law enforcement, Richard served in multiple roles, earned Officer of the Year, was placed on the promotional list, worked in specialized units and assignments, and served as a field training officer. He was known for being dedicated, helpful, and fully committed to the job. But after a series of severe back injuries, failed surgeries, and an early forced retirement, everything changed. What followed was a long and painful chapter marked by physical suffering, loss of identity, financial pressure, and the difficult reality of rebuilding his life from the ground up.
As a father of four boys, Richard knew he had to rise. What began as a search for healing eventually became a deeper journey into mindset development, self-awareness, meditation, breathwork, reflection, and the power of intentional thought. Through years of study and lived experience, he came to understand something that is now at the center of all his work: your thoughts shape your reality, and real transformation begins with awareness from within.
That journey led to the creation of Mind Prep Academy and to Richard’s book, What Are You Thinking? The New Standard in Mindset Awareness for Professionals. Today, he combines frontline experience with practical mindset principles, awareness training, and research-backed concepts from positive psychology and neuroscience to help agencies, leaders, and professionals build resilience, emotional control, stronger communication, and lasting inner strength.
Richard’s mission is simple but powerful: to help people stop operating on autopilot, become aware of their thoughts, and develop the mindset needed to lead, perform, and live with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
